Yesterday I felt like I was at a wedding! My wife and I had a little party at Fioza, http://www.fioza.com, the awesome coffee shop where I wrote WTSBTM. Michael, the owner, was kind enough to have opened it just as I started writing and I was frequently the only patron there. I gave him the gratitude I felt the best way I knew how. His mother catered it and we had an amazing cake, they made their delicious coffee drinks, and I was smiling ear to ear. My wife made a great speech and I followed with something like:
When Amy & I first got married, she was excited to marry a doctor who was fun and outdoorsy. After a year, though, her bar lowered to, “I just want a husband who can finish a sentence.” Many of you were there to witness the first hand pain and suffering. Well, I can finish a few sentences now! But this would mean nothing without everyone else. I am so grateful to have you in my life and to have a second chance and to have the opportunity to help others do the same.
This is recovery, this is life, this is awesome!
